Parking and Transport at Summer School 2025

CMS Summer School 2025 sees significant changes in our parking and transport plan for the morning sessions.

How will it run this year?

  1. The KCC Oval will not be available for general parking.
Restricted on-site parking is dedicated for:
    a. parents of children in Creche or Preschool programs.
    b. essential volunteers
    c. Youth & Children’s leaders staying on site.
These delegates will have received instructions on how to access this parking.
  1. For those with limited mobility, there will be minibus shuttles running from Ficus St (near the KCC Hartley site at the bend in Ficus St), to the Auditorium and back. These shuttles will also be running from Gates Ave, but Ficus St is the preferred pick-up and drop-off location.
  1. The best way to get to Summer School each day is to use the free daily bus service (Park ‘n’ Ride) that will take you directly to the KCC site. Please note that the Park ’n’ Ride options at the schools are dedicated for families checking in children at these locations. If you do not have children checking in, please choose an alternative option.
Morning session bus service (Park ‘n’ Ride)

There are a number of Park ‘n’ Ride services running each morning. Take a look at the timetable below for bus locations and departure times.

Please arrive no later than 8:45am to catch a bus from any of these locations to the morning session.

Street parking is available for those wishing to Park ‘n’ Ride from any of the following stops in Katoomba.

Gates Avenue, Katoomba
Buses depart from 8:00am
Plus frequent shuttle service.

  1. All buses taking attendees to the KCC site will now drop off in Oak St, for attendees to make their way to the Auditorium. Though this is a slightly longer walk, you will no longer need to take the steep hill through the KCC site from lower Violet St.
  1. There is also the usual parking in the streets away from the KCC site, for those who wish to walk to and from morning sessions. Please observe the ‘No CMS Conference Parking’ signs on the streets adjacent to the KCC site.

Why are we making these changes?

Considerable thought has gone into these changes. It is anticipated that they will result in a number of important benefits for Summer School delegates, including:

  • Improving safety and efficiency in moving large numbers of people to and from Conference locations.
  • Minimising changes and disruption in wet weather.
  • Alleviating much of the traffic gridlock that occurs around the conference site (especially with so many Scenic World visitors).
  • Improving Check-in and Check-Out procedures for Youth and Children’s programs.

What are the parking options for evening sessions?

All evening attendees will be able to use the Scenic World multi-storey car park.

For those with mobility issues, shuttle services will operate from the Scenic World Bus Carpark (drop-off will be available).

Please note that while public buses do run in the area, there will be no CMS Park ‘n’ Ride buses running at night.
